Tauranga Boys' College  ②

On Monday, October 14th, the boys arrived early in the morning at the International Center for Morning Homeroom.  They all had stories to share about their first night with their host families.  Some students were a little tired. Some were bubbling with energy and excitement. Others were a little nervous.  But all the boys were generally just fine and happy to be at Tauranga Boys’ College. After a brief orientation, the students held a nice welcome ceremony at Mayfield House, where they received an opening address by the Director of the International Students Department, Mrs. Annette Roff.  Some of the Tauranga Boys' College students performed the Tauranga Haka.  What an amazing performance it was. In return for their performance, the leader of our group, Sora Kamiya, gave a wonderful opening address followed by a song performance by all the Keisho boys.  They sang Motohiro Hata’s ひまわりの約束.  Their performance was so good that they were asked to sing a second time by Director Roff for their buddies that would be helping the Keisho boys throughout their stay.   Soon after, the students  individually met their buddies and went off to classes together starting their new friendships together.    Being with their Tauranga Boys’ College (TBC) buddies is a good opportunity for each Keisho student to challenge using English one on one.  But their favorite time seems to be in their English classes where they participate well in classes and where they are enjoying learning. Let’s hope that they all can use this opportunity well!
