1869 | Prince Kinmochi Saionji founds the private academy, Ritsumeikan |
1900 | Kojuro Nakagawa, former secretary of Prince Saionji, establishes the Kyoto Hosei School, the predecessor of the current College of Law |
1905 | The school adopts the name “Ritsumeikan,” with permission of Prince Saionji |
1913 | The name of the school is changed to “Ritsumeikan University” |
1935 | Noriyasu Ashiwa establishes Sapporo High School of Accounting |
1948 | Ritsumeikan University is recognized under the School Education Law to include Colleges of Law, Economics and Letters The name of Sapporo High School of Accounting is changed to “Sapporo High School of Economics” |
1990 | The name of the academy established by Ashiwa is changed to “Keisho Academy” |
1995 | Establishment of “Ritsumeikan Keisho Senior High School” is permitted with corporate merger between Ritsumeikan and Keisho Academy |
1996 | Ritsumeikan Keisho Senior High School accepts the first students |
1997 | The campus is moved to where it is (Nishinopporo) Overseas school tour programs for 11th grade students start |
1999 | The agreement of the cooperation is concluded with Vilnius Uzupis Gymnasium (secondary school), Lithuania The agreement of the cooperation is concluded with Vilnius Lyceum, Lithuania The agreement of the cooperation is concluded with Lord Botetourt High School in Virginia, the U.S.A. |

2005 | The agreement of the cooperation is concluded with Anyang Foreign Language High School in Anyang, South Korea |
2008 | The agreement of the cooperation is concluded between The High School Affiliated to the Beihang University and all four high schools attached to Ritsumeikan University |
2012 | Ritsumeikan Keisho High School is awarded as a “Super Global High School” by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Science & Technology Japan |
2013 | Ritsumeikan Keisho signs and seals France-Japan high school network COLIBRI |
2014 | Ritsumeikan Keisho is awarded as praxis and research school for education by Japan Educational Mutual Aid Association of Welfare Foundation The agreement of the cooperation is concluded between Ritsumeikan University and Sakhalin Ministry of Education |
2015 | Ritsumeikan Keisho High School is awarded as a “Super Global High School” Ritsumeikan Keisho – Harvard Study Program starts |
2017 | Ritsumeikan Keisho High School is awarded as a “Super Science High School” for second period, together as talent development priority school |
