Tauranga Boys College ③

Each day that passes, the Keisho and TBC buddies become closer and closer. Lunch times are spent in many different ways. Many of the boys enjoy having their lunch and some light conversation together with their buddies or just any random TBC student. Many of the TBC buddies were kind enough to invite the Keisho students to play some sports like cricket, soccer, or even touch rugby during the lunch periods. There are many opportunities for all.
Many of the boys of Keisho discovered the instant noodles at the school canteen. A familiar food from Japan, instant noodles became very popular among everyone. The boys sometimes had to make their own lunch boxes, but if they were lucky enough, some of the host parents made lunches for them. Their lunches often have a sandwich, a fruit, and a small snack. Whenever the students have lunch time, everyone must eat outside, even on rainy days. This was a big shock to the students, and many did not like it. However, they did as their TBC hosts did and ate their lunches outside in the pavilion.
As mentioned before, the Keisho boys really like their ESOL classes. One of the lessons that the students really loved was the shopping lesson. Their teacher Mel, took them to the Countdown supermarket across the street from the school. They divided into several groups and they were given various shopping lists. Their mission was to find the correct items on the list in the store and bring it back to Mel, who was waiting at the cash register. The boys had a chance to learn various words or expressions that most Kiwi people (New Zealanders) use. They had a marvelous time and learned some useful English in the process.
Following their shopping adventure, the boys had a chance to let off some steam at the Tenpin Bowling alley. They all showed off some great bowling skills and had a chance to have some real fun together. The player who had the best score of 100 or more would receive a 250 g bar of Cadbury chocolate! Honorable mention was given to Yu Shimizu who bowled a score 77 points because it was his first time to bowl. However, the person who took that delicious chocolate home was Riku Tsuchida. Riku, let’s hope you don’t get a NOSE BLEED!
